Prophecy:
messiah long foretold,
that will liberate us at independence;
mountains of tribalism made straight,
blood rivers and streams -
parenting nepotism and corruption,
hysop employed,
like sins he will wash them away
Ignorance:
so sweet like saccharin
like two-edge sword
satisfies glutinous urges
kills the body to no cure;
holds sway in Naija
Buffoonery:
so greedy like weed
like raging fire and brimstone
ravishes a whole nation to the full
nothing is left of it
There comes the light:
to heal, to restore, to reorder
reset values of transformation-
ignored, trapped and judged
taken to the gallow
cheered on by ignoramus
goaded on by buffing lots
crucify him they chant
sacrificial lamb he is
Backwardness:
pliant tool so corrosive
so we are embellished in our prison
leaders and the led
we tow the same path
Messiah is dead:
judged by the led
crucified by leaders
who late last night
partied and drank to stuppor
in a glee of rampant agreement -
away with righteousness!
come along darkness!!
His prophecy:
I hold to heart still
three days gone he will rise again
today is second on the log
hopeful
third day will come to pass
Eureka will knock on our doors

Poet's note: In this poem I am of the view that one day Nigeria shall rise again, righteousness will flow like a river and prosperity will be our portion. Messiah is a metaphor for all that is good that has come to rescue Nigeria. The Messiah might have been crucified, he will rise again.
