goofbone: In 1705 Scots poet Allan Ramsay adopted the pseud Isaac Bickerstaff, then in 1708 Swift did, then in 1709 Richard Steele did, then in 1733 Isaac Bickerstaff was actually born. Where did this name originate, tho? Why such a popular pseud? Asking for a friend (Alan Smithee).
