Aleister Crowley & The International is a collection of all the contributions the writer/magician/poet, etc., made to the pro-German paper during his stay in America during the first World War. Although many of these articles have been reproduced elsewhere, they have never been published in one place, thus making this a very handy volume for those interested in his writings, and especially during this time of his life. This volume contains not only the Scrutinies of Simon Iff, Golden Twigs, The Revival of Magick, but also many of Crowley's poems, essays, plays, reviews, and appreciations of his 'crapulous contemporaries.' Edited with an introduction by a long-time admirer of his work, Jon Lange has gone to considerable lengths to ensure the material is as close to its original appearance in The International and has inserted several illustrations to give a flavour of the period.

Aleister Crowley Books, Aleister Crowley poetry book Aleister Crowley's Illustrated Goetia Authors: Aleister Crowley
Publisher:
Published Date: 2008

Goetia [refers to] all the operations of that Magick which deals with gross, malignant or unenlightened forces. Goetia is sometimes thought of as a wild card, something that can get out of control, something which expresses the operator's lower desires to control others and improve his own personal life. And, in fact, this potential loss of control, this danger, the desire for self improvement and great power is exactly what attracts many people to Goetia while horrifying and repelling others. Crowley's Goetia is brought to life with vivid illustrations of the demons. Commentary by DuQuette and Hyatt bring the ancient arts into the modern day.

2011 Reprint of 1938 American Edition. "Liber AL vel Legis' or "The Book of the Law" is the central sacred text of Thelema, written by Aleister Crowley in Cairo, Egypt in the year 1904. Crowley says that the author was an entity named Aiwass, whom he later referred to as his personal Holy Guardian Angel (or "Higher Self"). The interpretation of the often cryptic text is generally considered a matter for the individual reader. The general method that Crowley used to interpret the obscurities of the book was the Qabalah. This edition also reproduces the original manuscript in Crowley's hand from which the printed version is composed.

Grey is attempting to raise the level of his force by impregnating the girl with the soul of an ethereal being - the moonchild. To achieve this, she will have to be kept in a secluded environment, and many preparatory magical rituals will be carried out. The black magician Douglas is bent on destroying Grey's plan. However, Grey's ultimate motives may not be what they appear. The moonchild rituals are carried out in southern Italy, but the occult organizations are based in Paris and England. Hitherto we have spoken only of the mystic path; and we have kept particularly to the practical exoteric side of it. Such difficulties as we have mentioned have been purely natural obstacles. For example, the great question of the surrender of the self, which bulks so largely in most mystical treatises, has not been referred to at all. We have said only what a man must do; we have not considered at ill what that doing may involve. The rebellion of the will against the terrible discipline of meditation has not been discussed; one may now devote a few words to it.

Wilfrid Scawen Blunt Poem
Her Name Liberty
 by Wilfrid Scawen Blunt

I thought to do a deed of chivalry,
An act of worth, which haply in her sight
Who was my mistress should recorded be
And of the nations. And, when thus the fight
Faltered and men once bold with faces white
Turned this and that way in excuse to flee,
I only stood, and by the foeman's might
Was overborne and mangled cruelly.
