Fred Schwarzmuller, an unemployed engineer and would-be actor, is hired by Homeland Security. His assignment is to join the cast of the remake of the cult movie, Bye Bye Oscars, because in it the mutant alien jelly fish of the original have been replaced with a hydrogen bomb.
